I will explain what I do with my small network. I was given 3 /24 class C style network numbers to start with. I subnetted the first one up using a netmask of .224 (8 segments), the second one I did not subnet (for web access), and the third I used as another .224 subnet for routing multiple IP segments. I think a lot of the ISP's out there use multiple /24 class C networks by using routers between them. Or, in many cases having multiple networks on one router. I use mine for web hosting, and I have multiple downstream hosts via frame relay, ISDN, and modem dialup. Hope that helps, any other questions please feel free to email. sean. ----------------------------------------------------------------------- When the morning sun rises, the hawks fly free as the wind. -- r. hawk rhawk@iconnex.com Infinet Connections rhawk@ackind.com (home address) http://www.iconnex.com/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------- > Does anybody know how users typically configure their hosts, when > allocated CIDR blocks of contiguous class C networks?
