Hello,

This talk might be of interest to the PRG.

"Function Computation in Networks" by Derya Malak (MIT).

Abstract: This talk describes a new perspective on cloud/fog computing, by
distributing computation in order to handle the large volume of data with
growing computational demand. Our goal is to devise coding techniques for
functional compression in networks, by employing the concepts of graph
entropy, common information, and exploiting function subjectivity and role
of a helper in encoding of functions. These techniques suit different
applications such as caching, classification, federated learning,
quantization, and compressed sensing. Our unified insights suggest to
distribute computation by making use of underlying redundancy both in data
and functions, in order to recover a sparse representation, or labeling.

Note that the presentations are generally recorded and the videos are
available few days after the seminars at the same links.

Best regards, Laurent.
