Dear all

I would like to bring to your attention to the 2012/2013 edition of the NEMPS Ph.D. program of University Lusofona (http://nemps.ulusofona.pt). The second round of applications started today and will last until Oct 30th 2012.

This is a 3 year Ph.D program with a curricular year focus on research, with 2 research oriented courses, 2 mandatory courses and 3 optional courses. The major goal is to have the students fully enrolled in their research as soon as possible. The thesis work can be done in collaboration with our industrial partners.

Some scholarships are available for the best candidates, and we aim to work closely with our industrial partners to ensure continuation of the research work after the conclusion of the PhD.

Any further questions should be send to: nemps-sec@siti1.ulusofona.pt

Scholarships How to Apply Curricular Structure

The increasing Internet pervasiveness as communication and social media is changing the daily routines of today's Information Society, providing not only solid grounds to improve social interaction, but also assisting in the dissemination of regional/local scope interests - thus contributing to a true global village.

In such pervasiveness, society has been having a predominant role due to the fact that citizens use the Internet not only to participate in provided services, but also by providing new services. The impact of this active participation is the consequence of two fundamental principles of Informatics Sciences: i) a fast-paced evolution of Internet services and architectures; ii) a wider interaction and immersion of the Internet user, as integrating part of these services, and technologies.
It is within this context that the NEMPS doctoral programme has been developed. NEMPS has as main goal to train individuals within the context of Informatics Sciences, but with specific expertise that can assist in solving and deriving innovation adequate to the Internet paradigms that are being raised due to the empowerment of the Internet user. Such expertise is derived from two main informatics sciences sub-areas: New Media and Pervasive Systems.
