I also put a review request [1] to the COSE mailing list and have a couple 
minor edits [2] as feedback. Some amount of exercising implementations of the 
context could be done using one of the off-the-shelf COSE libraries with the 
example bundles.

If there's interest, it could also be possible to use COSE/BPSec/BPv7 with a 
password-based-KDF [3] to implement a more human-friendly form of data 
security (both at rest and in transit) similar to existing, but non-standard, 
CLI tools (e.g. `openssl enc`) and web tools.
