I’m pleased to welcome [Kurtis Heimerl](https://kurti.sh), who joins 
Jane Coffin and Leandro Navarro as co-chair of the GAIA research group. 
Kurtis is an Assistant Professor at the University of Washington, 
working on topics such as community cellular networks, environmental 
sustainability, and conservation.

Please join me in welcoming Kurtis - and in thanking Jane and Leandro 
for their continued service.
