A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories.

Title : UniDirectional Link Detection (UDLD) Protocol
	Author(s)	: M. Foschiano
	Filename	: draft-foschiano-udld-01.txt
	Pages : 14
	Date : 2006-2-14

This document describes a protocol that can be used to detect and
disable unidirectional Ethernet fiber or copper links caused for
instance by mis-wiring of fiber strands, interface malfunctions,
media converters' faults, etc. It operates at Layer 2 in conjunction
with IEEE 802.3's existing Layer 1 fault detection mechanisms.

Please note that this document is not meant to be used as an
implementation reference for inter-vendor interoperability purposes.
Its objective instead is to be an informative reference for users who
wish to deploy services based on the protocol herein described.

Internet-Drafts can also be obtained by e-mail.

Send a message to:
	mailserv@ietf.org.
In the body type:
	"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-foschiano-udld-01.txt".

NOTE:	The mail server at ietf.org can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e. documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
	how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the
Internet-Draft.
