Dear colleagues,

at the Communications and Information Systems Group (CISG) at EEE UCL we are looking for a talented post-doctoral researcher to join our team, as part of one of our UK EPSRC funded projects. The COMIT project (Content Management at Internet Scales - http://www.ee.ucl.ac.uk/comit-project/) focuses on innovative new ways to design and implement content-oriented architectures, under the general area of Information-Centric Networks (ICN). The project will also consider Software-Defined Networking (SDN) approaches to build and implement radical new service-oriented architectures.

- The position is available immediately (ideal start January 2015, but earlier, or slightly later start will also be considered) for one year and possibility of further extension after that period.
- The deadline for applications is the 7th of November 2014.
- The post is Grade 7, starting salary £33,353 per annum and maximum salary £40,313 per annum, both including London Allowance which is currently £2,919 per annum.

The position is ideal for someone with extensive implementation experience in either the Linux kernel or in virtual networking environments (e.g., MiniNet), as the project involves testbed implementation of the algorithms that we are going to design.

The requirements for this position are:

- PhD in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or a related field.

- Strong software design/implementation and prototyping skills

- Background and/or hands-on experience in any of the following areas:
-- Content-oriented architectures
-- Information-Centric Networks
-- Software-Defined Networks
-- Operating systems and languages for next generation (software-defined) networks
-- Traffic engineering and congestion control
-- Service-oriented architectures

- Algorithm design skills

- Strong publication record

The application should include:
- a short cover letter indicating the candidate's research interests, achievements to date and vision for the future,
- CV including list of publications,
- contact details of two referees.

For further details on the position and the project, please contact Dr Ioannis Psaras (i.psaras@ucl.ac.uk), or Prof. George Pavlou (g.pavlou@ucl.ac.uk). Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview during November.
