All,

The draft below provides an update to the 'ICN in 5G' draft presented before to this group.

We have now included the 5GLAN extensions to the 5GC that are currently being defined in 3GPP Rel16 and the realization of ICN deployments over said 5GLAN. We have also now added text that links the ICN deployment against the ICN deployment considerations draft (now in final call).

Furthermore, we have removed text from the previous version that discussed the realization of IP-over-ICN(-over-5GLAN) to focus the 'ICN over 5G' draft more on the ICN deployments per se, while we will soon submit a separate draft on said IP-over-ICN(-over-5GLAN) realization.

We feel that this draft now well aligns with the separate 4G/LTE draft (which is currently in RG last call) and we are therefore asking for adoption as an RG draft for the draft below.

We'd welcome any feedback/comments on the overall draft and the specific RG draft adoption.

Best,

Dirk

Abstract:
The proposed 3GPP's 5G core nextgen architecture (5GC) offers
flexibility to introduce new user and control plane function,
considering the support for network slicing functions, that allows
greater flexibility to handle heterogeneous devices and applications.
In this draft, we provide a short description of the proposed 5GC
architecture, including recent efforts to provide cellular Local Area
Network (LAN) connectivity, followed by extensions to 5GC's control
and user plane to support Packet Data Unit (PDU) sessions from
Information-Centric Networks (ICN). In addition, ICN over 5GLAN is
   also described.

Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org.
