dear idr team! - prelude: i'm part of a small research group tasked to push the https://wiki.geant.org/display/RARE/Home further a bit. i would like to give you a quick follow up status report on the colorful bgp resolution in open source world. i assume here that you were on the previous hackathon held last november at ietf, here is a quick demo from that event: https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6995848035926712320?utm_source=share&utm_medium=member_desktop - summary of the past hackathon effort: so after some chat with the bgp-ct team it was clear that it's just a thing that one having an ibgp-rr&ebgp-with-nexthopself and a local policy to allocate-labels, it's a simple thing, basically it was just some lines of code. and exactly just this functionality is what is demoed by natv@junos. it took about 2 days including the writing of 100 automated self-tests, and about 2-3 interoperability test, all run weekly against the latest cisco xr, xe and junos virtual images, where applicable. (as far as i know cisco don't have yet any public image with colorful bgp?) you can find the tests by "$ curl https://github.com/rare-freertr/freeRtr/blob/master/src/rtr.html | grep ctp | wc -l" and the weekly detailed runs are sent to the mailing lists: https://lists.geant.org/sympa/info/rare-users - the main content: the news is that this spring, colorful labeled unicast resolution arrived to opensource routing world: i had the fear that it'll be a way too complex to have but turned out that it was also easy-peasy to code: basically i just reused the vrf class from vpnv4/vpnv6 afterall, with very few new parameters to have the needed flexibility... the whole task needed just a single afternoon once i had the idea on what to do to have it finally. all the best, csaba mate
