A great time to discuss this would be during the YANGsters meeting at the IEEE 802 Plenary coming up on Tue, July 12, 1:30pm - 3:30pm Eastern Daylight Time (US/Canada).

Hi Scott, Glenn,

I'm not sure whether you are already familiar, but the concept of YANG SIDs [1], numerical ids used for YANG identifiers when YANG is being encoded in constrained environments [2], came up in the IEEE-IETF liaison meeting today.  This is coming out of the CORE WG.

The SIDs are managed through the allocation of a "SID Mega Range" to different organizations, and we suspect/hope that IEEE will want to have one of these allocated, so that SID IDs can be allocated for YANG modules published by the IEEE.

I think that we also have (or are working on) some tooling to help manage the allocation of SIDs as part of the IETF YANG Catalog project work.

If Michael or Carsten are free during the regular Yangster call slot, then adding it to the agenda and inviting them along might be a good way to get more information and progress this, or perhaps we can set up a separate call if that timing doesn't work?
