Technical Summary

   This document describes a BGP/MPLS IP VPN-based subnet extension
   solution referred to as Virtual Subnet, which can be used for
   building Layer3 network virtualization overlays within and/or between
   data centers.

Working Group Summary

  This document generated a lot of discussions within L3VPN/BESS Working Groups
  up to the level where it "could have been considered controversial" (Shepherd), due 
  to the existence of certain limitations of the solution.
  
  The consensus nevertheless was in favor of the adoption, and the limitations have
  been described in the document.

Document Quality

   The extension described in the document amounts to a potential 
   set of deployment scenarios using existing technology, so it doesn't
   specify protocol extensions.   There is at least one known deployment.
