Status: Standards Track Date: January 2006 Mailbox: ylo@ssh.com, clonvick@cisco.com Pages: 17 Characters: 34268 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-secsh-userauth-27.txt URL: ftp://ftp.rfc-editor.org/in-notes/rfc4252.txt The Secure Shell Protocol (SSH) is a protocol for secure remote login and other secure network services over an insecure network. This document describes the SSH authentication protocol framework and public key, password, and host-based client authentication methods. Additional authentication methods are described in separate documents. The SSH authentication protocol runs on top of the SSH transport layer protocol and provides a single authenticated tunnel for the SSH connection protocol. This document is a product of the Secure Shell Working Group of the IETF. This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol. This document specifies an Internet standards track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the "Internet Official Protocol Standards" (STD 1) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list. Requests to be added to or deleted from the IETF distribution list should be sent to IETF-REQUEST@IETF.ORG.
