The ISOC Board of Trustees would like to thank the community for reviewing the proposed Internet Society bylaws changes. The comment period for the proposed changes opened on 29 April 2016 and closed on 16 May 2016. The Board received five responses: two resulted in changes, two were in support of the changes, and one was on a different topic. Making vacancy processes consistent The vacancy process proposal was modified in line with suggestions submitted by Ricardo Holmquist and the Internet Architecture Board (IAB). Making terminology consistent The terminology consistency proposal was modified in response to a comment from Ricardo Holmquist to make it clearer that no change on process was being suggested — only a change in terms. The revised change makes the wording in paragraphs a and b under Article II section 1 identical other than the substitution of "Chapters" for "Organizational Members." Editorial changes A comment was also received about the proposed editorial changes to the Organizational Members and Chapters sections concerning making the term "election eligibility cut-off date" used in both sections instead of "date of eligibility determination" in one and "date" in the other. The same wording change is also proposed in the first paragraph of Article III section 1 and in the third paragraph of Article IV. These changes were proposed so that consistent terminology was used in all cases, not to change the actual process in any particular case. The proposed updates and revisions based on community comments can be found at: https://www.internetsociety.org/revised-updates-internet-society-bylaws The Board will consider a motion to adopt the amended bylaws at its next meeting, a teleconference to be held on 14 June 2016 at 15:00-17:00 UTC.
