  The IESG has approved the Internet-Draft "The PPP Banyan Vines Control
  Protocol (BVCP)" <draft-ietf-pppext-vines-02.txt> as a Proposed Standard.
  This document is the product of the Point-to-Point Protocol Extensions
  Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Stev Knowles and Claudio
  Topolcic.


Technical Summary

This docuement allows for Banyan Vines to be run over a PPP connection.
The document defines the necessary configuration options that need to
be negotiated for Vines. Further technical discussion is included in the
next section.

Working Group Summary

While there has been some discussion of this Draft over the last few
months, in general it has been tweaks to the protocol to more closely
follow Vines practices elsewhere.

Protocol Quality


This document was written by a member of the PPP-EXT WG, using the
standard template used in most (if not all) PPP-EXT work. The Draft
appears to be complete, and while there appears to be community
activity supporting Vines over PPP, it is not clear at this time if
they are supporting the complete specification. This Document was
reviewed by Stev Knowles, one of the Internet Area Directors for the
IESG.
