The IESG has approved the Internet-Draft "PPP in HDLC-like Framing"
<draft-ietf-pppext-hdlc-fs-01.txt> as a Standard. This document is
the product of the Point-to-Point Protocol Extensions Working Group.
The IESG contact persons are Stev Knowles and Claudio Topolcic.

Technical Summary

The Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) provides a standard method for
transporting multi-protocol datagrams over point-to-point links.

This document describes the use of HDLC-like framing for PPP-
  encapsulated packets.

This specification is widely implemented and enjoys tremendous
  support in the community.

Working Group Summary

The PPP Working Group has spent considerable time over the years
honing the wording of this specification to remove the least
ambiguities from the text. There is wide working group and
   community support for this specification

Protocol Quality

This specification has had every feature and process implemented
in at least two independant implementations. The specification
was reviewed by Stev Knowles, one of the Internet Area Directors,
   for the IESG.
