The IESG has received a request from the TCP Client Identity Protocol
Working Group to publish the Internet Draft "Identification Server"
<draft-ietf-ident-idserver-02.txt> as a Proposed Standard.

The Identification Server Protocol provides a means to determine the
identity of a user of a particular TCP connection. Given a TCP port
number pair, it returns a character or octet string which identifies
the owner of that connection on the server's system.

The IESG plans to issue a recommendation in the next few weeks, and
solicits final comments on this elevation. Please send any comments
to the iesg@nri.reston.va.us, or ietf@nri.reston.va.us mailing lists
by September 17th.
