A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts directories. Title : Variance Request for The PPP Connection Control Protocol and The PPP Encryption Control Protocol Author(s) : F. Kastenholz Filename : draft-kastenholz-ppp-variance-00.txt Pages : 9 Date : 12/12/1995 The PPP Working group has developed two protocols, one to control compression on PPP links; the Compression Control Protocol (CCP), documented in draft-ietf-pppext-compression-04.txt. The second is the Encryption Control Protocol (ECP), used to control encryption on serial links, documented in draft-ietf-pppext-encryption-03.txt. During the development of these protocols, the Motorola Corporation informed the IETF that they may infringe on certain patents held by Motorola, specificlally U.S. patents 5,245,614 and 5,130,993. Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type: "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-kastenholz-ppp-variance-00.txt". NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE" command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with "multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on how to manipulate these messages. For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us. Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version of the Internet-Draft.
