FTP extensions WG people:

The CAT WG has developed a proposal for security extensions for
FTP, and asked IESG that it be considered for Proposed Standard.

In accordance with the FTPEXT WG charter, which directs it to
review and make recommendations on proposed security extensions
to FTP, I hereby request that the FTPEXT review this document
and make appropriate recommendations. Individuals may of course
submit their own comments independent of the working group.

Note: while the FTPEXT group may of course discuss this proposal on
its mailing list, any recommendations (from either the working group or
individuals) on this proposal should be sent to ietf@ietf.org or
iesg@ietf.org before March 12.

co-Director, Applications Area

The IESG has received a request from the Common Authentication Technology
Working Group to consider "FTP Security Extensions"
<draft-ietf-cat-ftpsec-09.txt> for the status of Proposed Standard.

The IESG plans to make a decision in the next few weeks, and solicits
final comments on this action. Please send any comments to the
 iesg@ietf.org or ietf@ietf.org mailing lists by March 12, 1997.
