 A Revised Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
 directories.

The Trivial File Transfer Protocol [1] is a simple, lock-step, file
transfer protocol which allows a client to get or put a file onto a remote
host. One of its primary uses is the booting of diskless nodes on a Local
Area Network. TFTP is used because it is very simple to implement in a
small node's limited ROM space. However, the choice of a 512-octet
blocksize is not the most efficient for use on a LAN whose MTU may 1500
octets or greater.

This document describes a TFTP option which allows the client and server to
negotiate a blocksize more applicable to the network medium. The TFTP
Option Extension mechanism is described in [2].

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
     "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-malkin-tftpexts-blksize-opt-01.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
      how to manipulate these messages.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
of the Internet-Draft.
