A Revised Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories. This draft is a work item of the MIME Content-Type for SGML
Documents Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Encapsulating SGML Documents Using the Multipart/Related
                   Content-Type
       Author(s) : E. Levinson
       Filename : draft-ietf-mimesgml-encap-02.txt
       Pages : 22
       Date : 10/20/1995

This document describes the encapsulation of a Standard Generalized Markup
Language (SGML) document within a MIME message. The document may be
represented in the message by some or all of its components. The MIME
message may also include auxiliary information to be used by the recipient
in processing the encapsulated SGML. The document proposes new content
sub-types of Text/SGML, Application/SGML, and Application/SGML-notation,
and a new header, Content-SGML-Entity.

This specification uses the proposed Multipart/Related Content-Type
[RFC-REL] and access-type=content-id [RFC-ATCID] specifications.
Multipart/Related provides the mechanism for treating the set of SGML
components as a single object and access-type=content-type allows a several
MIME entities to contain identical bodies without replicating the body in
each MIME entity.

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
     "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-mimesgml-encap-02.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
      how to manipulate these messages.

For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us.

implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
