The IESG has approved the following Internet-Drafts as Proposed Standards: 1. RTP Payload Format of Sun Microsystems CellB Video Encoding <draft-ietf-avt-cellb-08.txt> 2. RTP Payload Format for H.261 video streams <draft-ietf-avt-h261-02.txt> 3. RTP Payload Format for JPEG-compressed Video <draft-ietf-avt-jpeg-03.txt> 4. RTP Payload Format for MPEG1/MPEG2 Video <draft-ietf-avt-mpeg-01.txt> These documents are the product of the Audio/Video Transport Working Group. The IESG contact person is Allison Mankin. Technical Summary These specifications describe the packetizing and formatting of widely used video encodings, in a standard fashion, for use in payloads of the Proposed Standard Real-time Transport Protocol (RTP, RFC 1889-1890). RFC 1890 describes the method of registering new payload types for RTP with the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority. Working Group Summary The AVT Working Group reached strong consensus on these specifications. In addition, they have the consensus of active video protocol standards work outside of the IETF. Protocol Quality Review of the specs was by Allison Mankin, Transport Area Director, by members of the Transport Directorate, and by members of the ITU video standards committees. There are fielded implementations of the first four payloads, and prototypes of MPEG2.
