A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories. This draft is a work item of the TFTP Extensions Working Group
of the IETF.
Title : TFTP Option Negotiation Analysis
Author(s) : G. Malkin, A. Harkin
Filename : draft-ietf-tftpexts-analysis-00.txt
Pages : 3
Date : 12/22/1994
The TFTP option negotiation mechanism, proposed in [1], is a
backward-compatible extension to the TFTP protocol, defined in [2]. It
allows file transfer options to be negotiated prior to the transfer using a
mechanism which is consistent with TFTP's Request Packet format. The
mechanism is kept simple by enforcing a request-respond-acknowledge
sequence, similar to the lock-step approach taken by TFTP itself.
This document was written to allay concerns that the presence of options in
a TFTP Request packet might cause pathological behavior on servers which do
not support TFTP option negotiation.

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
"FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-tftpexts-analysis-00.txt".
NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
how to manipulate these messages.
For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us.
Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
of the Internet-Draft.
