  The IESG has approved the Internet-Draft "PPP Reliable Transmission"
  <draft-ietf-pppext-reliable-00.txt> as a Proposed Standard.  This
  document is the product of the Point-to-Point Protocol Extensions
  Working Group.  The IESG contact is Stev Knowles.
 

Technical Summary
 
  This document defines a method for negotiating and using Numbered-
  Mode, as defined by ISO 7776, to provide a reliable serial link.

Working Group Summary

  This document, as an output of the PPPEXT Working Group, was the
  subject of considerable attention.  There do not seem to be any
  open concerns from the group.

Protocol Quality

  This protocol generated no traffic during it's Last Call. As
  specified, it seems like a reasonable approach to the problems it
  intends to solve, and there appear to be no missing pieces. The
  document follows existing PPPEXT RFC formats, so it is easy for a
  reader with previous experience with PPPEXT documents to follow.
  This review was done by Stev Knowles, one of the Internet Area
  Directors, for the IESG.

Note to the RFC Editor

  Upon publication, please change the title of the document to
  "PPP on Numbered-Mode HDLC Links."
