The IAB has approved the IESG recommendation:

"The Point-to-Point Protocol for the Transmission of Multi-Protocol
Datagrams Over Point-to-Point Links" <draft-ietf-pppext-lcp-02> and
"The PPP Internet Protocol Control Protocol (IPCP)"
<draft-ietf-pppext-ipcp-3> be published as Proposed Standards.

These documents are the product of the Point to Point Protocol
Extensions Working Group of the IETF.

These documents will obsolete both the currnet Draft Standard PPP spec
(RFCs-1171) and the current Proposed Standard PPP-INIT spec
(RFC-1172). Because the new documents include significant changes,
both new functionality and significant re-alignment of the documents,
they are being re-published as Proposed Standards.
