A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories.

Title : Reverse Name Lookups of Encapsulated
                   IPv4 Addresses in IPv6
       Author(s) : P. Vixie
       Filename : draft-vixie-ipng-ipv4ptr-00.txt
       Pages : 4
       Date : 05/23/1996

[RFC1884] specified two IPv6 address forms that encapsulated IPv4
addresses. [RFC1886] specified a new DNS RR type (AAAA) to map domain
names to IPv6 addresses, and also specified the form of the PTR RR owner
name used to map IPv6 addresses back to the domain name of that host or
interface.

This memo amends [RFC1886] and gives two exceptions to its rules regarding
PTR RR owner name correspondance to IPv6 addresses. Specifically, the two
IPv4 encapsulation methods are exempted from [RFC1886]'s nybble mapping,
and are made subject to the appropriate rules from [RFC1035] and [RFC1101].

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
     "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-vixie-ipng-ipv4ptr-00.txt".

NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
      how to manipulate these messages.

For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
of the Internet-Draft.
