A New Internet-Draft is available from the on-line Internet-Drafts
directories. This draft is a work item of the MIME Content-Type for SGML
Documents Working Group of the IETF.

Title : Using Catalogs and MIME to Exchange SGML Documents
       Author(s) : D. Stinchfield
       Filename : draft-ietf-mimesgml-exch-00.txt, .ps
       Pages : 22
       Date : 09/19/1995

This draft proposes a standard for exchanging SGML documents over the World
Wide Web using catalogs and MIME. This draft extends SGML Open definition
of catalogs [10] by adding to it new keywords and storage object identifier
(SOI) types. The new keywords identify SGML document objects (such as
document type declarations and document entities) and non-SGML document
objects (such as stylesheets). The new SOI types include URIs and MIME
Content-IDs. This document also defines two new MIME content types called
Application/SGML-Catalog and Application/SGML. Application/SGML-Catalog
identifies a MIME body part as a catalog, while Application/SGML identifies
a MIME body part as an SGML object.

Send a message to: mailserv@ds.internic.net. In the body type:
     "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-mimesgml-exch-00.txt".
 Or
     "FILE /internet-drafts/draft-ietf-mimesgml-exch-00.ps".

NOTE: The mail server at ds.internic.net can return the document in
MIME-encoded form by using the "mpack" utility. To use this
feature, insert the command "ENCODING mime" before the "FILE"
command. To decode the response(s), you will need "munpack" or
a MIME-compliant mail reader. Different MIME-compliant mail readers
exhibit different behavior, especially when dealing with
"multipart" MIME messages (i.e., documents which have been split
up into multiple messages), so check your local documentation on
      how to manipulate these messages.

For questions, please mail to Internet-Drafts@cnri.reston.va.us.

Below is the data which will enable a MIME compliant mail reader
implementation to automatically retrieve the ASCII version
of the Internet-Draft.
