All

On 6 September the IAOC announced proposed meeting
dates for 2018 - 2022 and requested community feedback
before adopting.

Several points were raised.

1. IETF 110 21 - 26 March 2021

It was noted that those dates conflicted with a major
religious holiday. As this will impact travel the IAOC is recommending a
change to 7 - 12 March 2021.

2. IETF 106 17 - 22 November 2019

It was commented that IETF 106 seemed a bit late in
November and asked whether we are boxed in by other SDO
meetings, or was this by our own choice?

Well, kind of boxed in, the week before is IEEE 802, and
the week after is Thanksgiving in the US and a major travel
holiday.

The IAOC is recommending no change to these dates.

3. 2018, 2021, 2022 likely conflicts with ANSI T-10 with
November IETF meetings.

The ANSI T-10 calendar has not been set. November is a
short month with the Thanksgiving holiday and the IEEE
802 meeting to avoid as well. So, there is very limited
flexibility to move the meeting. The IAOC is recommending
no change for these meetings.

4. Summer time meetings and school holidays.

We received comments about the overlap of meetings with
school holidays. We schedule meetings March, July and
November, roughly 16 - 17 weeks apart. The meetings can
occur in July and occasionally include part of August. It's
inevitable that a July meeting will overlap with someone's
school holidays, whichever way the meeting is shifted during
this window. Maintaining meetings three times a year
doesn't seem to lend itself to a solution satisfactory to all.
The IAOC is recommending no change to the summer
schedules as proposed, unless there is another reason to do
so.

All of the proposed dates for 2018 - 2022 are below.

Comments appreciated to ietf@ietf.org by 4 December 2012.
