All: The authors of the different protocol alternatives presented how the 5G architecture would be with their protocol. Comments on the call and via email: - Some description of the 5G architecture(s) in the document would help cross-SDO understanding - Explanation of non-roaming/roaming/mobility terminologies used in 3GPP - Some general comments that need to be addressed for all protocols: o Explanation of anchor-less mobility o Explanation of interaction between control plane protocols (e.g. N4 and LISP-CP/ILA-CP, etc) o Explanation of how SMF interworks with Mapping system (where ID-LOC is used) o Explanation of how roaming, LI, charging, security, scalability, overload considerations, etc. work - Specific to LISP-CP with ILA-DP: benefit of LISP-CP with ILA-DP compared to ILA-CP The above and others from next week's meeting will be addressed in the next revision. Kalyani and other authors From: dmm [mailto:dmm-bounces@ietf.org] On Behalf Of Bogineni, Kalyani Sent: Thursday, March 8, 2018 2:38 PM To: dmm@ietf.org; ila@ietf.org Cc: Alberto Rodriguez Natal (natal) <natal@cisco.com> Subject: Re: [DMM] [E] New Version Notification for draft-bogineni-dmm-optimized-mobile-user-plane-00.txt All: The document has provided an overview of the 3GPP 5G architecture with focus on N9 interface. Several IETF protocol candidates have been included in this white paper. The authors would like to get comments/discussion on the document so that the evaluation of the proposals can be done. This document provides an overview of 5G system architecture in the context of N9 Interface which is the scope of the 3GPP CT4 study item [23501, 23502, 23503, 23203, 29244, 29281, 38300, 38401]. The requirements for the network functions and the relevant interfaces are provided. Reference scenarios and criteria for evaluation of various IETF protocols are provided. Several IETF protocols are considered for comparison: SRv6, LISP, ILA and several combinations of control plane and user plane protocols. Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org. The IETF Secretariat
