Dear Intarians,

I'm working on a new draft: Web Proxy Auto Discovery Next Generation
(WPADNG).[1]

WPADNG is an update to WPAD OG from the dinosaur times.

The approach I started with was to update it piecemeal, and solicit
feedback on how to update (or remove) the other sections.

The first change I made is to replace the old SVRLOC/TXT sections with
DNSSD. Feedback is welcome on that section.

Going forward, I am looking for feedback from the community on:

* If any new scenarios that have emerged over the last 25yrs that need to
be covered

* Understanding current IT Admin practices to help identify those

* New discovery mechanisms to be included

* New config file formats to be references such as PVD

* Suggestions on modernization to fit in with now widely adopted
technologies such as IPv6

For those seeking a "catch up", I sent a writeup on the origins of WPAD
from back in the day:

https://mailarchive.ietf.org/arch/msg/int-area/IHzF0V7nPNlfgQjiU7utUo85ngU/

[1] Here's a new WPADNG draft I am working on. Unfortunately I didn't make
the submission deadline
