Dear all,

Please find here further information about the SAREF ontology and the Smart Appliances study that TNO conducted for the European Commission (sorry for sharing this only now, but I was offline for some time after the IoTSI workshop).

Most information can be found at the project website https://sites.google.com/site/smartappliancesproject/.

For a complete overview of the smart appliances project and its results, you can read the Final Report at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nnxMhTMGh4WTVsSVRsb01ha3c/view (see also the associated spreadsheet with mappings at https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B2nnxMhTMGh4UnVFMTh1S2R2cGc/view). In particular, the following chapters of the report might be of interest for you:

- Chapter 3 (page 35) contains the analysis of standards, protocols and data models that I mentioned several times during the workshop

- Chapter 6 (page 127) presents the core concepts we identified in the smart appliances domain and the mapping to the various standards, protocols and data models I mentioned above

- Chapter 7 (page 131) describes the SAREF ontology.

A shorter version of the final report can be found in the following publication:

Roes, Created in Close Interaction with the Industry: The Smart Appliances REFerence (SAREF) Ontology<http://download.springer.com/static/pdf/575/chp%253A10.1007%252F978-3-319-21545-7_9.pdf?originUrl=http%3A%2F%2Flink.springer.com%2Fchapter%2F10.1007%2F978-3-319-21545-7_9&token2=exp=1459776731~acl=%2Fstatic%2Fpdf%2F575%2Fchp%25253A10.1007%25252F978-3-319-21545-7_9.pdf%3ForiginUrl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%252Flink.springer.com%252Fchapter%252F10.1007%252F978-3-319-21545-7_9*~hmac=9c8b43c7d6bebe90b0a5a86b05ba7104b5a9ba1e88986c1d2732c24283051d3e>, Proceedings of the Formal Ontology Meets Industry workshop (FOMI 2015), August 2015, Springer.

Finally, I enclose a ppt presentation that summarizes the TNO study and our current activities around SAREF.

Cheers, Laura
