Based on the Alternate-Marking method, this draft discusses how to deploy in-situ flow performance measurement in IPv6 domain.
In combination with the scalability of the IPv6 packet header and other in-situ flow measurement functions that may be supported in the future, a specific data structure called Flow Monitor Option is defined to carry the marking bits and other information required for flow measurement.
New Option to carry Flow Measurement data can be Encapsulated in the Hop-by-Hop Options Header and Destination Options Header.
