I believe it is more simple to just open another control-connection in  
this case. That was the solution we decided upon  in OWAMP anyway.

I can see other use cases where it would be advantageous to do as you  
suggest. It probably comes down to determining what the most likely  
use cases are and optimizing based on that. But, I figured I would let  
you know the motivation for why we did it this way in OWAMP. (In fact,  
at the time I suggested something like what you have suggested here.  
In the end, during implementation, I was glad to have it stay more  
simple.)
