A bunch of us working on IOAM data plane have submitted draft-ioametal-ippm-6man-ioam-ipv6-options-00 to carry IOAM data in IPv6.
This is part of the encapsulation work for IOAM ongoing in IPPM.
We plan to take it to 6man too after initial review here.

Appreciate review and feedback. We have a rough implementation of this in VPP (fd.io - https://github.com/FDio/vpp/tree/master/src/plugins/ioam/encap)
We would also like to have a discussion on this as part of the IOAM slot in the upcoming IPPM meeting.

Thanks,
Shwetha

    Abstract:
In-situ Operations, Administration, and Maintenance (IOAM) records
operational and telemetry information in the packet while the packet
traverses a path between two points in the network. This document
outlines how IOAM data fields are encapsulated in IPv6.

Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission
until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org.
