Ali,
     Thanks for replying. I took a look at both the clauses of
802.1ad spec. But I am still not able to understand clearly. Spec
just says when you need to run MSTP between the CE and PE and it
doesn't really explain why (as in why looping can happen if MSTP
is not run between CE and PE).

It will be really nice if you can answer my questions with
following example topology.

1. Why no need to run MSTP/RSTP  if AC is port based..?
    Actually, that I can understand since PEs are acting as
    a hub with respect to BPDUs and hence looping can't
    happen.

2. Why MSTP/RSTP needs to be run if AC is vlan based to avoid
    looping..?
