Hi,

During a meeting, Pascal proposed to add another action in the OAM/ICMPv6
draft to proxy ping. Currently, a proxy-ping action answers on behalf of
the device, if a traffic originating from the device has been seen
previously, if it is not the case, the proxy-ping discard the message.

Pascal proposed, to add a behavior, where when the device has not been
seen, the proxy ping sends the ping request (compressed) to the device to
trigger an answer and verify that the device is alive.

Do we add Pascal proposal in the draft? If yes, how do we proceed. Right
now, it is stated that an action decides if the compress message has to be
sent after the action. In the original version of proxy-ping, that means
that the action ping-proxy is known to block compression. In Pascal
proposal, the compression has to be done, so I see to possibilities:
- we add this behavior explicitly in the DM, and there is a flag telling
apply CDA or not
- we behavior is implicit to the action and we have to define a new action
like 'proxy-ping-or-send'.

Any comment ?

Laurent
