We discussed the alternatives and went with the unreachable link metric for the following reasons:

    1. We already have an unreachable metric using LSInfinity for prefix metrics. 
    2. We wanted to have a solution for the default algorithm and topology that wouldn’t require
        accessing the OSPF Extended Link opaque LSA or supporting OSPFv3 Extended LSAs. 
        This should ease deployment.
