Hey Ketan,

This version incorporates your remaining shepherd review comments as Keyur and I discussed with you the week before IETF 118.

   1. Recommendation of BFD usage for link liveliness determination in multi-hop and sparse peering models and BFD as normative reference.
   2. Removal of capability BGP-LS-SPF TLV.
   3. Removal of BGP-LS-SPF Prefix-Length attribute for Link NLRI.
   4. Addition of Address-Family Link Descriptor TLV for unnumbered links (for determination of whether the link is applicable to the respective AF calculation). This probably should have been in BGP-LS and I’m not sure how all these controllers are supporting unnumbered links without it.
   5. More precise specification of bi-directional link descriptor matching during the SPF calculation.
   6. Unnumbered link configuration considerations.
   7. Additional editorial clarifications.

Thanks,
Acee

> Many Massively Scaled Data Centers (MSDCs) have converged on
> simplified layer 3 routing. Furthermore, requirements for
> operational simplicity has led many of these MSDCs to converge on BGP
> as their single routing protocol for both their fabric routing and
> their Data Center Interconnect (DCI) routing. This document
> describes extensions to BGP to use BGP Link-State distribution and
> the Shortest Path First (SPF) algorithm. In doing this, it allows
> BGP to be efficiently used as both the underlay protocol and the
> overlay protocol in MSDCs.
