The Network Configuration Protocol (NETCONF) defined in this document
provides mechanisms to install, manipulate, and delete the configuration
of network devices. It uses an Extensible Markup Language (XML)-based
data encoding for the configuration data as well as the protocol
messages. The NETCONF protocol operations are realized on top of a
simple Remote Procedure Call (RPC) layer. [STANDARDS TRACK]

This document is a product of the Network Configuration
Working Group of the IETF.

This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.

STANDARDS TRACK: This document specifies an Internet standards track
protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and
suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the
Internet Official Protocol Standards (STD 1) for the standardization
state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is
unlimited.
