Dear NFVRG members,

Following my presentation on 21 Wednesday in London, I would like to share with you the set of whitepapers that the EU Project SoftFIRE has published on its website. Keep an eye on our website, as more are to be published soon, and keep in touch!

SoftFIRE Whitepapers:
https://www.softfire.eu/white-papers/

More specifically, individual published whitepapers are as follows:

  1. Programmability with NFV and SDN in SoftFIRE<https://www.softfire.eu/wp-content/uploads/SoftFIRE-White-Paper-4-Programmability-with-NFV-and-SDN-in-SoftFIRE.pdf>
This white paper describes how the SoftFIRE middleware is organized in order to support the programmability needs of experimenters. It provides also a description of the functionalities, services, and APIs that can be used in order to program the Federated Testbed features.

  1. 5G Mobile Core Network Slicing on an Orchestrated and Virtualised Infrastructure<https://www.softfire.eu/wp-content/uploads/SoftFIRE-White-Paper-on-Network-Slicing.pdf>

This white paper outlines the mobile core network slicing technology provided by SoftFIRE to its experimenters. The network slices that were developed in SoftFIRE based on 5G architecture are presented, providing details of the virtualisation packages. In addition, description of its usage and other solutions developed by Experimenters are presented. Finally, the white paper presents concluding remarks and some recommendations for future solutions.

  1. SoftFIRE Approach to Experiment Management Why and How<https://www.softfire.eu/wp-content/uploads/SoftFIRE-White-Paper-2-SoftFIRE-Approach-to-Experiment-Management-Why-and-How.pdf>

This white paper describes the SoftFIRE approach to experiment management. It provides a description of why and how the FIRE tools have been substituted with new TOSCA based functionalities and how to use them. This whitepaper goal is to promote some discussion within the FIRE community (and outside) on how to support the experiments in a virtualised environment.

  1. Constructing a Federated Testbed and an Orchestrated Virtualisation Infrastructure<https://www.softfire.eu/wp-content/uploads/SoftFIRE-White-Paper-1-Constructing-a-Federated-and-Orchestrated-Virtualisation-Infrastructure_FINAL.pdf>

This whitepaper describes a technical overview of the federated virtualised infrastructure provided by SoftFIRE, outlining its capabilities, and sharing the experiences gained in building such infrastructure.

Serdar
