Hi,

Following discussions at the last two IRTF meetings in Prague and in Lisbon, we have just posted an initial revision of a draft that we hope will be useful to relate the concepts of Intent, Policy, and Service Models. We also hope that it will stimulate further discussion and that we will ultimately arrive at a broader consensus across the Research Group.

Another draft related to the concept of network intent was posted earlier today by Mouli and Kaarthik. While we were aware of each other's work, there was not enough time to see if the drafts could be combined or if they each should stand on its own. We expect that this will part of the future discussion.

A new version of I-D, draft-clemm-nmrg-dist-intent-00.txt
has been successfully submitted by Alexander Clemm and posted to the IETF repository.

Name: draft-clemm-nmrg-dist-intent
Revision:	00
Title: Distinguishing Intent, Policy, and Service Models
Document date:	2017-10-30
Group: Individual Submission
Pages: 11
URL: https://www.ietf.org/internet-drafts/draft-clemm-nmrg-dist-intent-00.txt
Status: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-clemm-nmrg-dist-intent/

Htmlized: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/html/draft-clemm-nmrg-dist-intent-00

Abstract:
This document presents existing definitions of the Intent, Policy,
and Service Models concepts, analyses their differences and
commonalities, and how the concepts relate to one another. The
document is intended to clarify the different concepts and converge
towards a common and shared understanding, and then use this
foundation to guide further definition of valid research and
   engineering problems and their solutions.

Please note that it may take a couple of minutes from the time of submission until the htmlized version and diff are available at tools.ietf.org.
