The ACM Wireless of the Students, by the Students, and for the Students Workshop (ACM S3) is a successful workshop series historically co-located with ACM MobiCom and fully run by students. The workshop has had 14 installments to date, and the last one was held jointly with ACM MobiCom 2023 in October last year [1].

The next edition of the workshop is expected to happen in Washington, D.C., USA, in October 2024, as part of the ACM MobiCom program once more.

We are presently calling for nominations to the roles of S3 workshop Co-chairs and TPC members. Self-nominations are allowed and encouraged. More senior researchers and faculty are also encouraged to propose the names and CVs of qualified PhD students.

Co-Chairs should be senior (i.e., third-year or later) PhD students working in the area of mobile systems and networking, broadly understood. Their roles will firstly involve preparing and submitting a proposal to the call for workshops of ACM MobiCom 2024 (expected to be due in April). Should the proposal be accepted, the TPC co-chairs will be responsible for the following:
- selecting the (student-only) TPC members, and preparing and disseminating a Call for Papers
- designing and supervising the peer review process
- putting together the workshop program, including keynotes, panels, poster sessions, or other ancillary events
- interacting with the ACM MobiCom organizing committee for the publication of proceedings and local organization
- running the workshop in Washington, D.C. Please note that MobiCom 2024 is expected to be an in-person conference.

TPC members should be PhD students working in the general area of mobile systems and networks, broadly understood. Their role will mainly involve:
- helping with the dissemination of the Call for Papers
- reviewing submitted papers
- participating in the peer review process and taking decisions on paper acceptance or rejection.

Serving in the program committee provides valuable experience in running an academic event, and is an opportunity to encourage student research in the MobiCom community. Many past ACM S3 Co-Chairs and TPC members have gone on to prominent careers in academia and industry, and we encourage all interested PhD students to apply.

Expressions of interest for either (or both) types of service shall be directed to the SC members at cjoewong@andrew.cmu.edu, ghasempour@princeton.edu and marco.fiore@imdea.org. Candidates should copy all three SC members on the same email, and include a copy of their current CV as well as a brief description (3-4 sentences) of their general research areas and any past experience or other qualities that would help them to be a successful Co-Chair or TPC member. We will evaluate candidates based on (in no particular order) their leadership potential, alignment of their research interests with that of the MobiCom community, ability to enhance the diversity (both technical and demographical) of the workshop, past research experience, and availability to chair the event in person. Preference will be given to candidates who do not expect to graduate before the workshop takes place in October 2024.

Please note that due to the volume of emails received, candidates not selected to serve as co-chairs or TPC members may not receive a formal notification of the results. We expect to choose two to three workshop co-chairs by March 31, 2024, and we will forward all expressions of interest in serving on the TPC to the selected co-chairs for their consideration. TPC invitations will likely be sent out in April or May.

We look forward to receiving applications by motivated students who will enjoy the challenge of organizing a workshop and establish a S3 event as successful as the previous ones.
