Subject: generation of message id from MTSid

I have been attempting to develop an 822-X.400 gateway for a commercial
client. In doing this, I have been unclear as to how to generate the
P1-message-id from the MTSid. In rfc987, it speaks of the printablestring
and local part in section 4.6, but is unclear as to what these components
relate. I assume that the printable string is directly from the MTSid
object and that you generate the rest by appending an asterisk and
country, admd, and prmd.

For example, if I received an object containing the following, I would
generate the subsequent P1-Message-ID.

printable = 9212141114.GW1234
country   = us
admd      = attmail
prmd      = mycompany

generates:  P1-Message-ID: <9212141114.GW1234*us*attmail*mycompany>

Is this correct? What alternatives are there? Do I need to check any
other field to determine the correct format? How exactly does the
"RFC-822" string come into account?

I appreciate you help on this,
