Hi folks,

As a simple and lightweight multicast service enabler, IGMP/MLD proxies are useful especially for home routers or edge networks. Attaching multiple networks such as wired and wireless networks or 5G an WiFi networks, etc. are pretty common in the recent communication environments or infrastructure; it is hence necessary to consider how multiple upstream interfaces can be supported for IGMP/MLD proxies.

Luis and I have been hence working on multiple upstream interface selection mechanisms for IGMP/MLD proxy.
We have revised and submitted the following two drafts:

"Multiple Upstream Interface Support for IGMP/MLD Proxy"
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-asaeda-pim-multiif-igmpmldproxy/
and
"Signaling-based configuration for supporting multiple upstream interfaces in IGMP/MLD proxies"
https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-contreras-pim-multiif-config/

The former draft describes the basic upstream interface selection mechanisms and proxy behaviors. The intention of this document is Informational.
The latter one describes the signaling-based upstream interface selection mechanism. The proposed mechanism uses the IGMP/MLD extension messages defined in RFC 9279. It interoperates with an IGMP/MLD proxy and both of upstream routers and downstream hosts. The intention of this document is PS.

We'd appreciate if you could check them out and give some comments.
We plan to present them in the upcoming meeting and hopefully consider the next step.

Thanks for your attention.

Regards,

Hitoshi
