Hi Pascal,

Thank you for updating!

Good catches.

You are right, the copied paragraph should be also updated, e.g., update the end to:

In addition, several enhancements have been done on system architecture level
which are reflected in System architecture for the 5G System (5GS) [TS23501].
These enhancements include multiple features in support of Time-Sensitive
Communications (TSC) by Release 16 and Release 17. Further improvements are
provided in Release 18, e.g., support for DetNet [TR2370046].

Right, TSCTSF should be resolved at first occurrence as you suggest.

Thank you,
Regards,
Janos

Hello Janos

There is a 3rd reference that I expect you want to replace too.

That text became:

In addition, several enhancements have been done on system architecture level
which are reflected in System architecture for the 5G System (5GS) [TS23501].
These enhancements include multiple features in support of Time-Sensitive
Communications (TSC) by Release 16 and Release 17. Further improvements will
be considered in the 3GPP Release 18 time frame, e.g., support for DetNet
   [TR2370046].

Should that text be updated a bit?

Also I expanded TSCTSF on first use as: Time Sensitive Communication and Time Synchronization Function (TSCTSF)

This is saved in github as https://github.com/raw-wg/raw-technologies/commit/4f04c8495a62d2326020be9cfe7e28fdd3daba19<https://protect2.fireeye.com/v1/url?k=31323334-501d5122-313273af-454445555731-5e48d8eadfa4fc29&q=1&e=7fe4d69f-f73a-4922-a4c8-68e02602cca0&u=https%3A%2F%2Fgithub.com%2Fraw-wg%2Fraw-technologies%2Fcommit%2F4f04c8495a62d2326020be9cfe7e28fdd3daba19>

Unless objections are raised, this will be part of the next publication.

All the best

Pascal

Subject: [Raw] updating the RAW technologies draft

Hi,

As we discussed at IETF 115, the LS https://datatracker.ietf.org/liaison/1800/ explains that 3GPP SA2 has concluded their DetNet Study Item.

I think it would be good to bring the RAW technologies draft up-to-date on that.

This could be done by replacing

[SP211633] 3GPP, "New SID: Extensions to the TSC Framework to support
              DetNet", 3GPP SP-211633, December 2021,
              <https://www.3gpp.org/ftp/tsg_sa/TSG_SA/
              TSGS_94E_Electronic_2021_12/Docs/SP-211633.zip>.

with

[TR2370046] 3GPP, "Study on 5GS DetNet interworking", 3GPP TR23.700-46, August 2022, < https://portal.3gpp.org/desktopmodules/Specifications/SpecificationDetails.aspx?specificationId=3994<https://protect2.fireeye.com/v1/url?k=31323334-501d5122-313273af-454445555731-f4c9abe3e5fec6c8&q=1&e=7fe4d69f-f73a-4922-a4c8-68e02602cca0&u=https%3A%2F%2Fportal.3gpp.org%2Fdesktopmodules%2FSpecifications%2FSpecificationDetails.aspx%3FspecificationId%3D3994>>.

and updating the corresponding text in 6.4.5, e.g.:

OLD:

IETF Deterministic Networking (DetNet) is the technology to support

time-sensitive communications at the IP layer. 3GPP Release 18

includes a study [SP211633] on whether and how to enable 3GPP support

for DetNet such that a mapping is provided between DetNet and 5G.

The support for DetNet is considered to be added via the TSC

framework introduced for Release 17. The study includes what

information needs to be exposed by the 5G System and the translation

of DetNet flow specification to 5G QoS parameters. Note that TSN is

the primary subnetwork technology for DetNet. Thus, the DetNet over

TSN work, e.g., [RFC9023], can be leveraged via the TSN support built

in 5G. As the standards are ready for such an approach, it is out of

scope for the 3GPP Release 18 study item [SP211633].

NEW:

time-sensitive communications at the IP layer. 3GPP Release 18

includes a study [TR2370046] on interworking between 5G and DetNet.

Along the TSC framework introduced for Release 17, the 5GS acts as

a DetNet node for the support of DetNet, see Figure 7.1-1 in

[TR2370046]. The study provides details on how the 5GS is exposed

by the TSCTSF to the DetNet controller as a router on a per UPF

granularity (similarly to the per UPF Virtual TSN Bridge granularity

shown in Figure 11). In particular, it is listed what parameters are

provided by the TSCTSF to the DetNet controller. The study also

includes how the TSCTSF maps DetNet flow parameters to 5G QoS

parameters. Note that TSN is the primary subnetwork technology for

DetNet. Thus, the DetNet over TSN work, e.g., [RFC9023], can be

leveraged via the TSN support built in 5G. As the standards are ready
