A new Request for Comments is now available in online RFC libraries. RFC 9218 Title: Extensible Prioritization Scheme for HTTP Author: K. Oku, L. Pardue Status: Standards Track Stream: IETF Date: June 2022 Mailbox: kazuhooku@gmail.com, lucaspardue.24.7@gmail.com Pages: 21 Updates/Obsoletes/SeeAlso: None I-D Tag: draft-ietf-httpbis-priority-12.txt URL: https://www.rfc-editor.org/info/rfc9218 DOI: 10.17487/RFC9218 This document describes a scheme that allows an HTTP client to communicate its preferences for how the upstream server prioritizes responses to its requests, and also allows a server to hint to a downstream intermediary how its responses should be prioritized when they are forwarded. This document defines the Priority header field for communicating the initial priority in an HTTP version-independent manner, as well as HTTP/2 and HTTP/3 frames for reprioritizing responses. These share a common format structure that is designed to provide future extensibility. This document is a product of the HTTP Working Group of the IETF. This is now a Proposed Standard. STANDARDS TRACK: This document specifies an Internet Standards Track protocol for the Internet community, and requests discussion and suggestions for improvements. Please refer to the current edition of the Official Internet Protocol Standards (https://www.rfc-editor.org/standards) for the standardization state and status of this protocol. Distribution of this memo is unlimited. This announcement is sent to the IETF-Announce and rfc-dist lists.
