This document specifies how Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
messages can be transmitted directly over IEEE 802 networks.

This document obsoletes RFC 1089.  [STANDARDS TRACK]

This is now a Proposed Standard Protocol.

state and status of this protocol.  Distribution of this memo is 
unlimited.

This announcement is sent to the IETF list and the RFC-DIST list.
