The source is trivial: I have about 10 terms in format XXX-YYY-ZZZ and
sometimes they appear in the line in a position that xml2rfc breaks them
since it probably considers hyphen char as a delimiter to break the word
on.

The new feature sounds fantastic but I'm already on XML, don't see a tool
that converts RFCXML to MD format.
