That's the idea, let's take an electric meter sending 4 times a day
measurement. If you don't receive measurement for 1 day you can consider
the device dead. SCHC just keep the time of the last message and when the
ping request arrived and is taken by a rule with action, the dead interval
is computed and if too long the reply is not generated.

The behavior, I was talking about is that you reach this dead interval,
instead of dropping the request, it is compressed and sent to the device.
