Apart from saying "450 octets (practically speaking, ASCII
characters)" here, I'm completely content with this.  I don't think
the additional references are needed.  People operating DNS services
need to pay attention to those other RFCs anyway, IMO, and the
references will just be clutter.  Emphatically, though, this is no
hat: if people feel otherwise, I'd like them to provide text with the
required references.  (If people want me to dig them up, I will.  But
I'm not going to extra work when I don't think it needed.)
