The IESG has approved the following document: - 'PASSporT Extension for Rich Call Data' (draft-ietf-stir-passport-rcd-26.txt) as Proposed Standard This document is the product of the Secure Telephone Identity Revisited Working Group. The IESG contact persons are Murray Kucherawy and Francesca Palombini. A URL of this Internet-Draft is: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-stir-passport-rcd/ Technical Summary This document extends PASSporT, a token for conveying cryptographically-signed call information about personal communications, to include rich meta-data about a call and caller that can be signed and integrity protected, transmitted, and subsequently rendered to the called party. This framework is intended to include and extend caller and call specific information beyond human-readable display name comparable to the "Caller ID" function common on the telephone network and is also enhanced with a integrity mechanism that is designed to protect the authoring and transport of this information for different authoritative use-cases. Working Group Summary There is broad support for this document in the STIR WG. When work began on this document, the was some controversy about the integrity mechanism, bur consensus emerged for the solution in the document. No one spoke against this approach for over two years. Document Quality Many people have expressed an intention to implement this document. Personnel Russ Housley is the document shepherd. Murray Kucherawy is the responsible Area Director.
